Default MySQL Update has crashed admin

My web host has just carried what it described as 'an urgent security update' for MySQL, it appears to be Client API version 5.1.56

This has unfortunately affected my site so that new customer accounts cannot be created and nor can existing customers log in. This error appears in admin:

1034 Incorrect key file for table 'customers'; try to repair it
    in:
[select count(*) as count from customers]

    I'm using
    Zen Cart 1.3.9h

    Database Patch Level: 1.3.9h

I am told by my host support that I need to update my shopping cart to deal with this problem. Please can anyone help with this because at the moment my site is unusable!

    Thanks

Please ignore the above message, I managed to solve the problem by importing a new table from another database. Lost all the data that was in the original though!

So, you simply go to phpMyAdmin, select your database, select that customers table, click on the Operations tab, and choose Repair Table.

Clearly they have no idea what they're talking about. I'd be skeptical of any support they offer if they don't have a clue about a database error message that clearly explains exactly what needs to be done.

I just had this happen to every zen-cart site I host, when I updated mysql from 5.0.x to 5.1.x. The table does not seem to repair. MySQL reports that the repair was successful, but the error is still there. There's no going back on the mysql upgrade.. not sure how I'll proceed at the moment

If the Repair Tables option doesn't work, then you best drop the tables and restore from backup.
You DID export the databases before you upgraded, right?

Yes. I had backups. Restoring the customers table(s) did the trick.
