Default Configure Taxes (US State Sales Tax - Dual Rate)

I would like for my store to charge sales tax for both California and Ohio. I have read this tutorial: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=76 which explains how to add sales tax for one state. When I check out now it does not add any tax at all.

    Here are my current settings:
Configuration>My Store> Zone> Ohio (I do not know how to add California as well).

    Locations/Taxes> Zone Definitions>
    a. California (Zone Name), California Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)
    b. Ohio (Zone Name), Ohio Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Classes>
    a. 2 (ID), California Taxable (Tax Classes)
    b. 1 (ID), Ohio Taxable (Tax Classes)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Rates>
    a. 1 (Priority), Ohio Taxable (Tax Class), Ohio (Zone), 7% (Tax Rate), Ohio Sales Tax 7% (Description)
    b. 2 (Priority), California Taxable (Tax Class), California (Zone), 9.25% (Tax Rate), California Sales Tax 9.25% (Description)

It is obvious to my that my first setting in: Cofiguration>My Store> Zone may be the reason why both taxes don't work. Am I correct? Is it even possible to have two different states taxes? Please help!!

You want to make separate Zone Definitions for your Taxes ...

Make Priority 1 on both ...

In the Locations / Taxes ... Tax Classes ... make 1 for Taxable Goods ...

In the Locations / Taxes ... Tax Rates ... set the
    Tax Class Title: Taxable Goods

Now it does not charge Ohio tax at all, and instead of charging the 9.25% for California it charges around 8.5% Here are my new settings:

    Locations/Taxes> Zone Definitions>
    a. California (Zone Name), California Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)
    b. Ohio (Zone Name), Ohio Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Classes>
    b. 1 (ID), Taxable Goods (Tax Classes)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Rates>
    a. 1 (Priority), Taxable Goods (Tax Class), Ohio (Zone), 7% (Tax Rate), Ohio Sales Tax 7% (Description)
    b. 2 (Priority), Taxable Goods (Tax Class), California (Zone), 9.25% (Tax Rate), California Sales Tax 9.25% (Description)

I added two products (both products had the taxable goods drop down enabled) at $43.68 with a California Shipping Address and it only added: $3.70 (California Sales Tax 9.25%) to the cart. Some setting/s must be wrong. Any ideas?

Got it! One major problem was that under my Locations/Taxes>Zone Definitions the Ohio had a folder next to the name. When I clicked the folder it was attached to Florida (even though it said Ohio). So make sure to click on the folder in this area to make sure it matches the state you designated. The second issue was the priority here: Locations/Taxes> Tax Rates>. I changed both states priority to 1.

For all Dual State Tax Rates here is the solution that worked for me:

    Locations/Taxes> Zone Definitions>
    a. California (Zone Name), California Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)
    b. Ohio (Zone Name), Ohio Sales Tax (Zone Description), and it is enabled (green light)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Classes>
    b. 1 (ID), Taxable Goods (Tax Classes)

    Locations/Taxes> Tax Rates>
    a. 1 (Priority), Taxable Goods (Tax Class), Ohio (Zone), 7% (Tax Rate), Ohio Sales Tax 7% (Description)
    b. 1 (Priority), Taxable Goods (Tax Class), California (Zone), 9.25% (Tax Rate), California Sales Tax 9.25% (Description)
