Need help with attributes please

There is no .htaccess in the downloads folder. I added or created that folder when I moved the location.

Should I copy and paste that file into the folder? And do you want me to take the new coding you have listed in the first coding box and replace the old .htaccess coding with the one you have listed? When I do that it gives me a server error.

I have no problem with adding the downloads folder in the configure.php files so it reads:

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', '/home/username/downloads/');

But when I do that, I get that error message I included in the above post. How do I get rid of that?

Add the .htaccess file to that directory ...

Make sure that you have it spelled correctly for:
/home/your_username/downloads

and that the downloads has the S if you are using it ...

I added the .htaccess file to the downloads folder.
I then changed the coding line to define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', '/home/username/downloads/');.

I am still getting that error at the top of her store which says: Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/username/download/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid.

Do you have that .htaccess file you posted in your root:
/home/username/.htaccess

with those re-writes?

If so, can you rename that:
/home/username/.htaccess_HIDE

so it is not affecting all of your directories below that ...

The idea is not to be using any rewrites etc. while trying to fix this and make sure you do not have any where they do not belong ...

I added the rewrites to the .htaccess in the root and changed the name. I am no longer getting a server error message now.

I am, however, still getting the other error message of

Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/username/download/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid.

when I change the file path to

  define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', '/home/username/downloads/');

and I have done both "downloads" and "download" as the folder name. I make sure that they are the same through out. That was typo... sorry.

Make sure there are no .htaccess in:
/home//username

Make sure you have the .htaccess that I posted for the Downloads in:
/home/username/downloads

Make sure that your test download file is in:
/home/username/downloads/filename.zip

Make sure that the Attribute is using:
filename.zip

OK.... I am about ready to pull my hair out, as I am sure you are too.

I have deleted the .htaccess file from the /home/username/ location and moved the ..htaccess_HIDE file to the /home/username/downloads location and deleted the original .htaccess file from that location as well.

When I change that line in the configure.php files to say

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', '/home/username/downloads/');

I still get this error message at the top of her store:

And now I am not able to view the admin section of her store. It just is a blank screen.

Nevermind, I restored a back up and got it back up. Not sure what happened.

I am not sure if your rewrites are causing issues or what at this point ...
