mixed no shipping and per item shipping on same order

My client wants his CD's sold with a handling of $3 for normal, $7 for priority, and $10 for international shipping and a 50¢ per item charge.

We are setting up downloads of both album zips and individual mp3s to have no shipping.

When the free shipping module is on as required for the no shipping mp3s and zips, free shipping comes up as an option even if a CD that requires shipping is in the cart.

We do not want the free option to display, we just don't want shipping added if it is not a physical product.

I searched the FAQ and forums but did not find this particular issue.

Any ideas?

How do you have the Products setup that are a combination Physical and Download Product?

Do you have an URL that we could perhaps peek at?

On the 3 shipping methods, you would want to clone the Item Rate item shipping module ...

Do a search on:
clone item
clone flat

to show you examples on how to do this ...

I only have 4 products on because I don't want to have to go back and make changes to 200 items if that is what it takes to work. This is a rebuild from another solution that can be found without the /shop. I won't go into the frustration I was having there. The only thing there now is purchase CDs.

My client does not want the cd purchase and download on the same page so each has its own page. He has gotten feedback that some of his listeners were confused what the mp3 option was so we have them separate. A lot of his fans are in the older generation.

Ikind of thought that module duplication was what I would have to do, I will study up.

The back end looks good but the front gives this:

Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://*mydomail*/shop/index.php?mai...ckout_shipping. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

I have double checked but have not found what I may have missed.

and when I tried it with the unmodified per item on and added a no shipping download free was still the only option available.

OK, I resolved the 500 error. I accidentally replaced one of the "item" entries on line 56 where it should not have been.


Still only getting free shipping option when mixed shipping items are in the cart.

It looks like you have your Download Product setup incorrectly ...

Make sure that it is set up as:

Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required

Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

Otherwise, the shipping calculations will be incorrect on carts that contain both Physical and Download Products ...

I just bought the big book but have not gotten that far yet. I did not realize that virtual products and downloads were handled differently.

Yes, Download Products are known to be Downloads based on the filename on the Attribute ...
