red flag UTF-8 Layout headaches since my host server in Texas upgraded their server

Sorry for the cross-posting of the following, which I have also posted on SRW2D /UTF-8 Zen Cart (Blog)

I have installed Zen Cart 1.3.8a and added UTF-8 Zen-Cart module almost a year and half ago. The cart was functioning fine and haven't had any problem with the Japanese pages until this month when my host server in Texas upgraded their server.

After the server upgrade, in Chrome browser, the overall width of every page has been reduced by almost 15% and the font has almost doubled, with the font of the product description varying from product to products. In addition the Logo keep moving over the banner as I zoom in and out.
In MS Explorer, the font is stable but the whole page is skewed to the left side, the logo and the banner are not properly aligned.

I thought that the problem lies with the css file of my template and after checking it out against the default template, I couldn't find any plausible problem with this particular file. I also thought that a permission issues with the css file, but I have been told by the server's technical staff that they couldn't find any permission issues with the file in question.

The English pages display well and don't seem to have any problem.

I am at loss as what could have happened and should be most grateful for your kind suggestions.

    Best regards
    Al

Before you do any further work, upgrade to 1.3.9h ...

    1.3.8 is insecure.

    Thank you.
    What are the steps involved?
Should I first upgrade to 1.3.9h and then install the Multilingualization Pack based on Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 by Zen-Cart.JP ?
Or is the Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 by Zen-Cart.JP a stand alone version of the Zen-Cart?
Or simply upgrade to 1.3.9h and add the UTF-8 Zen-Cart module?

    Thank you again.

    Best regards

While I cannot be sure of this, a module developed for 1.3.0.2 may not be compatible with 1.3.9.

A series of checks would need to be done, and you may benefit from getting in touch with the developer of that module.

The simple fact is that 1.3.8 is definitley insecure, and the hassle of dealing with a hack is more onerous than thrying to tweak an old module for use on a new ZC version.

I would suggest that an upgrade is a priority.

There are tutorials, and many posts, on how to do the upgrade.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use "auto-upgrade" features that may be offered by your host's C-Panel interface.

    Upgrading must be done manually.

You have some simple validation errors which you should fix.
They may not be related to the layout problems but fixing them wont hurt.

    toryvista,
What do you mean by validation errors?
What kind of validation errors you have in mind?
Do you mean css validation errors?

    Thank again.
