Did you install it, visited the install, and was then asked to install again?
Yes I did install it. But initial I installed it through my control panel. and then it was directing me to change some permission which I did, as well as it was asking me to run this: /zc_intall/index.php.
But when I did nothing happened.
"nothing happened" is rather vague.
If you want specific help, you'll need to give specific details, like what exactly did the ENTIRE message onscreen say when "it was asking me to run zc_install"? And when "nothing happened", what exactly do you mean? Did time suddenly stand still and everyone lost 10 minutes in the entire universe? What were you expecting to see happen that didn't happen?

@DrByte,
exactly what was said is what happen.... I install it from my hosting control panel and went in and change all the permission on those files that was surpose to have been changed. Then when I type the url in where it was installed it instructed me to run the zc_install/index.php.
And it was at this point that it said it could not find that. so I removed the whole package and I want to start over with some clear guidance.
So DrByte, if you can direct me that would be greatly appreciated.
HOW did you install it from your hosting cpanel?
It is not installed from Cpanel (unless you used Softaculous or Fantastico).
The proper method is to get your copy of the ZIP file of ZC-1.3.9h
You UNZIP it on your computer.
You FTP the files to your server.
In C-Panel, you create an empty database, with a username and password, and assign the user ALL permissions on the database.
You then go to your browser and do the install from there, following the instructions that accompany the software.

Sounds like maybe you set permissions to too low a value for your server.

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.
Also this to:

Hi,
I'm installing on a linux server, but I believe I may have the same error. (clean install, not an upgrade).
I've downloaded v1.3.9h, unpacked it, copied the whole tree to a server, and done all the permissions etc.
I can get to the basic zencard index page, which tells me to go to zc_install - but that link gives a script error.
The file zc_install/index.php appears to be truncated.
It's 2054 bytes and the last couple of lines are:
require(DIR_WS_INSTALL_TEMPLATE . 'common/main_template_vars.php');
require(DIR_WS_INSTALL_TEMPLATE . 'common/tpl_main_page.php');
It hardly looks like a complete php file.
I have re-downloaded the full archive and done an MD5 check, which is correct.
I've also unpacked the archive using three different utilities and each time got the same size, truncated file.
I've installed zen cart several times before, without problems (including for other people on the same web host).
Can one of the admins please check the distribution file?
Thanks,
Robert.
