My Color Changes Won't Take Effect- Help! I'm NEW!

I'm new to zen cart, so I appreciate your patience!

I'm trying to edit the background color of a free template: http://www.picaflor-azul.com/index.p...ducts_id=14320

I followed this path: /includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css
and edited a few different colors (background, header-checkout:hover) saved, refreshed my page, and non of the changes are showing up.

The last change I made was the checkout hover color:

I only thing I changed is in the bold print on the last line. What am I missing?

Each template brings with it its own file structure. So you should not be editing anything in the "classic" file structure. Instead edit the stylesheet in your template's own css folder, somewhere like...
/includes/templates/picaflor/css/stylesheet.css
... if that's the name of the template folder, that is.

Thanks for the quick response! Let me be a little more specific as to how I did it:

I logged into my cpanel; file manager; opened the Web Root; double clicked on the zencart folder; includes; templates; the apparel boutique template (The free one I installed); and then css. At this point I selected stylesheet.css and went to code editor at the top of the page.

This where I'm at: /public_html/zencart/includes/templates/apparel_boutique/css/stylesheet.css

I selected the character encoding: us-ascii

This is where I made my color changes and saved. After I noticed the changes weren't taking effect, I downloaded the stylesheet.css and opened it in my notepad, made the color changes and resaved in the correct place through file manager. I could see the new color code number once I checked, but it still didnt make the changes.

I hope that was specific enough. Help! Lol

You have selected your new template in Admin - Tools - Template Selection ?

You've gone half way to the right way to edit files. Best to use an FTP program rather than File Manager to download the files, then edit in your text editor.

Can you provide a link to the site ?
