    Default SSL not showing up

Hi! I've recently installed and set up our online store (https://richsgunshop.com/catalog/zencart/), and the SSL certificate is present and working properly there.

However when you click on any categories or products then the address bar reverts to "http://".

How can I make my site secured?

    How did you fix it?

Was it tweaking the config file?

Because SSL is "resource-hungry", zencart will invoke a SSL page only when it is needed - IE: only at times when the page will submit sensitive data.

At all other times, the site will revert to HTTP .

It is NOT a good idea to "force" HTTPS, because not only will this slow everything down, but the search engines will not spider or index SSL pages.

A site where every page is SSL will not be shown anywhere in search engine results.

Nothing to fix. Why do you want/expect to see the "http*"? This is hidden with most modern browsers.

Whilst on the topic, I'm still at a loss to understand why people even use ''www' as a hostname when they only have a single host anyway.

Actually, I do understand it. It is 'mass ignorance'. ... but what would I know?

    Cheers

I guess I misspoke, it is actually showing just url.com/whatever but the padlock goes away which is making customers believe their data is no longer safe.

You must have some very observant (and 'helpful'?) customers.

That, or my BS detector is playing up.

Zencart behaves in the way ALL sophisticated and professional webshops behave. It makes a page SSL only when necessary.

If you have SSL on your site, create a sidebox that tells your customers the site is SSL secure (SEE AN EXAMPLE), and put the security information in your conditions page.
