Implementing upgrade from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9h. During System Setup, it remains in INSTALL vs UPGRADE mode.
Working in a development environment with a separate IP address and database: mirror site. Have backups of db saved as needed. Sites are both currently working and parallel. We have Zencart currently running on both public and dev sites, using v 1.3.8a. Trying to upgrade to v 1.3.9h. on dev site first, before doing so on public site.
Have downloaded and unzipped 1.3.9h. Made file comparisons, have included customized template folders inside directories as follows:
Zencart/includes/templates/TEMPLATE (folder)
Zencart/includes/languages/English/html_includes/TEMPLATE (folder)
Zencart/includes/languages/English/modules/shipping/TEMPLATE (folder)
Zencart/includes/languages/English/TEMPLATE (folder)
Have saved modified dist_configure.php files as configure.php files in both /admin/includes and /includes directories.
Now trying to run System Setup to have it give the option for an UPGRADE. After it completes the System Inspection, it's still in INSTALL mode vs UPGRADE mode.
I'm assuming, based on what I've read in the instructions and in forums, that some path or syntax within the configure.php file is wrong, and isn't allowing a connection to the database. [Note: Have reviewed the configure.php files with technician at the hosting company, just to confirm that all settings are correct. Confirmed that database is intact and the table structures are identical between both live and dev sites and that there's content, etc. in the dev database, which was copied over from live site, and imported into its own MySQL DB.]
Could it be the prefix definition inside the configure.php filess, for instance? I have modified the files myself, then when that didn't help, I created blank files (per instructions) and allowed the System Setup to write the configure.php files, and compared them.
