Hi,
I have read a number of threads (not all by any means) and FAQ's and cannot seem to find the solution to this multi-faceted issue.
(1.) Item A can be shipped via post at only 50 cents (standard letter) but 2 x item A will need to be shipped via parcel post at $5.00 (there is no in-between). How can shipping for these items be set so that more than one unit (2-10units) are charged at the $5.00 ?
(2.) Item B must be shipped via parcel post at $5.00 and 1-10 units x item A will fit in the same parcel (small padded envelope) so how can it be set up so that customer needs only pay $5.00 and not $5.50 (for B plus one A) or $10.00 (for B plus 2-10 A) ?
(3.) Now how can the above solutions be expanded to allow for International postage rates for those orders outside of the home country and still be flexible?
in (2.) above the issue is critical when an item A sells for only $3.00 but costs as much as $2.50 for postage if 2 are ordered along with item B ($50.00) and when customer receives parcel they can see that 2 (or more) of item A fitted easily in with their item B but they paid additional postage, paid $5.00 for item B and $5.00 for 2 x item A for a total of $10.00 postage instead of what really should ethically and practically be only $5.00 (we are talking physically small items here).
Unfortunately using weight is not the answer (well not in isolation) as item B can often weigh more than item A (but will not fit in a standard envelope as will A as it is too thick in section, light but too bulky).
You can substitute "item" with "category or sub-category" which is do-able.
Hopefully this has been explained effectively and I look forward to any assistance.
cheers,
Mike
