Default 553 sorry, your mail was administratively denied. (#5.7.1) 501 5.6.0 Data format erro

    Hi guys,
I use v139h and I have a new template instaled. my site is www.gh3-antiaging.com
when testing, my new customer gets on the screen the message that the account has been created and that will receive a confirmation e-mail, but never gets it.
I reiceve a Mail Delivery Subsystem e-mail that the address had permanent fatal errors - reason: 553 sorry, your mail was administratively denied. (#5.7.1) 501 5.6.0 Data format error.

I've tried all the options in Admin - Configuration - E-mail Options at E-mail Transport Method but nothing worked.

Do you have any idea what else can I do?

    Thanks a lot!

I hate stating the obvious, but have you considered contacting your host for advice? If nothing else they should be able to tell you exactly what is wrong in regards to the "Data format error."

These are words that we all hate. The fact is you HAVEN'T tried everything, because if you had you would have stumbled across the option(s) that DO work.

Furthermore telling us that "nothing worked" is far from being informative, because some of the different methods/options *will* produce different errors and different error messages. These messages may not mean a great deal to you, but they will provide *us* with information that could be essential in helping you solve the problem.

As well as the six different 'options' to choose from, there are also four SMTP settings that need to be correctly set for at least two of the methods to work. In other words, there is so much that *could* be amiss that without something more informative from you we can only make the same wild guesses that you are probably doing.

This is probably why no one has responded to you with any suggestions.

Now, having said that, unless your store is hosted on a Windows server, I have found that the "sendmail-f" seems to work without issues on most stores that I have dealt with.

Others may have different findings and/or opinions, and needless to say, not all options will work for all hosts, which is the very reason why we have all these options.

As stated though, the different options will (probably) all produce different errors. some of which can be easily resolved, and others simply won't work with any given host.

Although this sounds like it could all be a huge nightmare, it really isn't difficult. It is only difficult whan the only clue we have is "I've tried all the options in Admin - Configuration - E-mail Options at E-mail Transport Method but nothing worked."

The error message that you DID report only tells us what is going on with this one method, and we don't even have any clue which method you were trying at that time.

Sorry, this is probably not the answer you were looking for, but at least you now have a better idea as to why your question seems to have fallen of deaf ears.

    Cheers
    Rod

    Hi guys,
Thanks Rod for trying to explain how things work around here. You are absolutly right.
I did't give you much information, because this is what I got.
Finaly I got an answer from my hosting company, which is Godaddy, unfortunatly. I had a problem with the MX (Mail Exchanger) records and I fixed it.
Then I configured my e-mail options from admin:
    - php for transport method
    - e-mail linefeeds: LF
    - e-mails must send from known domain: yes
    - E-mail address ( sent from) : ex: [email protected]
    - SMTP e-mail mail host: configured
    - SMPT e-mail mail server port: 25

And it worked! Thanks to zencart wiki :)

It would be recommended to set your Email Transport Method to SMTP or SMTPAUTH, instead of "PHP".
