    Default Error 403

    Hi all.
I've just installed zencart and cannot access the admin page.
    I get an error code 403 .....

The website declined to show this webpage

But it gives me no option to login.

    What am I doing wrong?

A 403 error is generated by the server, and usually indicates a permissions error on one or more files/folders.

What host are you using? What server (windows or linux/apache)?

    How did you "install" zencart?

    Hi Schoolboy.

    My host is One.com
    O/S is windows XP
Zencart was uploaded with the windows explorer ftp client
Setup was run through internet explorer 8

The setup went like a breeze, no problems.
Once everything was setup I tried to access the editor to set the store going and thats when I got the ERROR 403 message.

Please help as i'm pulling out what little hair I have left

Superficially, they could be OK... but as they do not describe the full details of their hosting setups, it is difficult to know if they configure their servers to meet the full needs of sophisticated eCommerce. These BIG hosting companies tend to "dumb down" everything, and target people with simple needs. Their "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap" plans generally mean they configure to the lowest possible standards.

eCommerce needs proper hosting... with probably a smaller company that knows eCommerce.

Not YOUR computer operating system... The WEB-SERVER at the host... is it a LINUX/ APACHE server, or a WINDOZE server... ?

Bad move... you need proper FTP... either Filezilla (free) or a good commercial FTP program like WS-FTP-PRO.

That should not be a problem

What EDITOR are you trying to access? There is no "editor"... you go to an ADMIN CONSOLE, from which you manage your site.

Hi again... sorry for the delay, been busy with my daytime job

I've tried filezilla, but unfortunately i must be a bit thick as I cant logon to my ftp server

Secondly, you are correct, I'm trying to acess the ADMIN console.... but I get error 403.... EVERY time

One.com advised me to use Zen Cart, so I would assume they support it...... but I may be wrong

All I want to do is sell some stickers
