product over riding category with no price

OMG been away for too long and everything seems so complicated again!

Created a category and then a product within that category but all that shows in my online store is the product without any price!

It shows quantity and add to cart box but no price and why has the category vanished?

I would have thought ppl click on category for description and from there click on available products.

Help Please

Catalog>Categories/Products .. select the folder with the product .. double clik the product or select the green "e" button, scroll down to product price and enter the price, click preview, clik update

Have done that Wotnow but makes no bit of difference. It seems very straight forward but it is not appearing so. Can you think of anything else I might be doing wrong? Or can someone please tell me with product when you enter a price should it not display on the page?
