    Default Authorize.Net AIM (Duplicate Transaction Issue) v1.3.8

    I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a along with Authorize.net AIM. Every transaction is getting the follow error:
    "A duplicate transaction has been submitted. - Your credit card could not be
    authorized for this reason. Please correct the information and try again or
    contact us for further assistance."

    After talking to the people at Authorize.net, I found out that you can edit a line of code in the API to say how long do you want to watch for duplicate transactions. This can be changed to "0", but that is not solving the issue.

    What is really weird is that all of these duplicate transactions are going through. I had one guy try 9 times because he thought something he was doing was wrong. His card ended up being charged all 9 times.

    If there is any other information that is needed please let me know.

    When did this problem first start?
    Why are you using the obsolete v1.3.8 version for a new store?

    It is an older project and I don't know exactly when this problem arose. I would upgrade but I do not know what it would effect. Is there any other sort of recommendations besides upgrade.

    One of the specific problems fixed in v1.3.9 was the prevention of duplicate submissions for payment. This included some template improvements, some javascript improvements, some updates to payment modules, and handling of checkout flow. I can't give you one single instruction to fix the problem. The whole "fix" is rolled up in the latest version of Zen Cart.

    Plus, the old version you're using has known security holes which hackers love to mess with. You really need to upgrade sooner than later.
