    One thing you could try is to rename your admin directory to:
    /your_admin_directory_old

    and reload the whole directory:
    /admin

    from a clean v1.3.9h to your site and call it:
    /your_admin_directory

    and copy your file:
    /your_admin_directory/includes/configure.php

    and see if that works, as a test on Featured Products ...

    That might at least rule out is it something in the directory ...

    ok, I can sure look at that...........

    in the meantime, I've finished my comparisons between the fresh admin folder and mine which is running.

    If the fresh one is "left side" and the running files are "right side", there aren't many differences:

    the left side (fresh files) contains several security patches I don't employ: cofig.security_patch, security_patch-v138.2 (several), ini_sanitize.php

    and of course dist-configure which turns into configure.php on the other side


    the right side (running site) has various banner info boxes, a few text changes I've made in "more information" line in files like document-product, product.php, product_free_shipping, product-music, and corresponding .bak files of those

    and

    extra_white_list.php.

    I don't remember what that was for.

    renaming the admin director and uploading a fresh set of admin files to olddirectoryname and adding my configure.php resulted in no change...........

    Rest of story: Issue was unrelated to Zen Cart (which I probably should have suspected when I found no similar topics), but I am grateful for the assistance I received here and having had the opportunity to run through my files again didn't hurt me a bit.

    Further info:

    Problem was specifically an incompatibility with third-party CloudFlare's RocketLoader beta, interfering with ZC calendar javascript. Disappeared after turning off CloudFlare setting.

    I was going out of my mind as to why the calendar date picker wouldn't work.
    Cloud Flare was the culprit! I NEVER would have figured it out!

    Heh. Don't thank ME, thank Ajeh...........an obscure little problem, wasn't it? By the way, I only had to turn off the RocketLoader beta, not the entire CloudFlare protection....
