red flag Admin Folder & The Override System?

Whenever installing add ons we are always told to use the override system and to never edit a core file when possible. Most add ons warn you that if a core edit is necessary that you should keep the original file and add a prefix, such as .php-bak. This is fine however no one ever seems to mention core overrites in the admin folder. If I come accross an admin file in an add-on which already exists as a core admin file then should I implement the override system or is it fine to just override the file?
I have searched about and I simply cannot find any information on what goes on in the admin folder and whether you need to use the override system if you need to replace an admin core file during the installation of an add-on. Any information is appreciated.

There are no overrides available for the admin files, so you'll need to keep a record of the ones you modify.

At this time, there are no overrides in the admin section. Instead of overwriting an admin file, I'd use something like WinMerge or Beyond Compare to compare the files and merge the two. You'll have to have the files on your local computer to do that. You can't do it online.

Although the overrides don't exist in the admin, I often create an override folder anyway to keep a copy of any files I changed so I can keep track and modify the files again after and upgrade/update.

Yes, I have simply been giving my original files a prefix of .php-bak so I have them saved incase they are ever required.

I do use beyond compare to try and merge files when possible.
