Default Checklist for 150 mod upgrades?

    Hi all

Is there a general checklist available for those wishing to upgrade mods to 150?

Is there a set of instructions/workarounds to remedy known problems to date?

I simply do not have enough programming experience to be able to work out by myself what areas in a mod need to be addressed, and I am dreading the thought of having to update a few mods that I run which have very little support, such as event calendar.

    Thanks in advance.

The basic checklist is to compare the mod files with the changelog for the new version and see if any mod files, or files that they interact with, have changes. You need to be sure that any ereg() family PHP functions are changed to preg() or other functions (1.3.9-compatible or "PHP 5.3-compatible" mods have that covered already).

Admin mods will have to deal with a new system for registering pages - research that if it applies to your situation.

Many mods will need little or no change to be v1.5-compatible.

Thanks for your quick reply gjh42

Just to be clear, I was not refering to the uploading and installation of an upgraded mod, but to the actual upgrading of the mod for 150 compatability.

In the case of event calendar, it has an admin settings page that IIUC will need some work to bring it up to 150 standard. It is the nature of this work that I am enquiring about.

Please correct me if I am wrong that the ereg/preg change is for php5.3 compatability. If this is the case, then all of the mods used by me are php5.3 compatible, including event calendar.

    Cheers

That is the fundamental requirement for upgrading a mod. If it doesn't have any edited core files that change in the new version, or custom files that depend on core files that changed, the mod will not need changing.

You know about as much as I do about the mechanics of adapting admin files to the new system. It has been discussed in the forum recently.
