Hello, It appears in the 1.3 versions that the image file names have been limited to 60 characters for their length. Could someone direct me to the location where I can change this back to the previous versions length?
Thank you,
Michael

Images are stored in the products table in the products_image field ...

Thanks Linda. I have increased a few field lengths and this may have been one of them.

Is there a reason the image name is kept to 64 characters in the database? (I'm running the latest 1.38a) I ran across this problem because I want to use more descriptive names for the image files as well as the subfolders.
If you use subfolders to organize your images, the length of the subfolder name is included as part of the allowed 64 character length of the image file name. Is there any reason that I shouldn't switch the product_images field to allow 128 or even 256 characters? How would this be handled when upgrading in the future? I think it would be just a matter of changing the fields length again before uploading the previous versions database?
Any advice is appreciated,
~jim
I need help with the same issue.
Thanks.
My personal resolution to this problem was to go into MySQL under my stores database. In the left panel of the screen there are two listings one is information_schema and the other is the name of the database. Click on the plus sign to the left and the list of tables will open. Then I found the products table and clicked on it. This opened up a list of tables in the right panel. I found the one listed as product_image, located the icon for change and clicked it, then edited the field "length/values". I put 256 I haven't seen any major issues yet. Though I am new to this arena and do not consider myself an authority on this subject. I am merely passing on my resolution and if there are better suggestions I do welcome them.
In 1.5, I have altered the schema and changed the field size to 128 from 64. Field name = products_image.
