help question Why "No, Normal Shipping Rules" option for a "Product - Free Shipping" type?

Logically, if a product is of type "free shipping" there would be no need for a "Yes, Always Free Shipping" option.

In reality, this option is there for products of the "Product - Free Shipping" type, too.

    Why?

Is there a meaning to a "Product - Free Shipping" that's configured with "Normal Shipping Rules"?

You may have a Product setup as a Product - Free Shipping ... and need to change it for some reason but may want to go back to Free shipping later ...

Idea or Suggestion Re: Why "No, Normal Shipping Rules" option for a "Product - Free Shipping" type?

Thanks. So if I understand your answer correctly, all product types have the same options in the setup/edit page (even if some of them may be irrelevant to the product type), for the sole purpose of letting the store admin easily switch from one product type to another.

    Did I get this right?

No ... if you look at the other Product Types you will see that many are different ...

Some have defaults set differently ... some have less fields ... some have more fields ...
