global parts increase/decrease?

Hi All,

So im assuming

UPDATE `zen_products` SET `products_price`=`products_price`+7.50 adds £/$7.50 to all my product range and

UPDATE products SET products_price = products_price * 1.25;

does 25% accross the range

so heres the question, can i do a global decrease as in

UPDATE products SET products_price = products_price -* 1.25;

and

UPDATE `zen_products` SET `products_price`=`products_price`-7.50

The SYNTAX of your SQL queries is correct...

You need to get the maths correct, though.

UPDATE `zen_products` SET `products_price`=`products_price`+7.50
adds £/$7.50 to all my product range and

UPDATE products SET products_price = products_price * 1.25;
does 25% accross the range

These are OK

But...

UPDATE products SET products_price = products_price -* 1.25;

is not correct mathematically.

To REDUCE a price by 25%...

Consider a price of $100.

You want to take off 25% ($25)

Therefore you want 75% to remain. ($75)

100.00 *0.75 = 75.00 ($75.00 remains)

UPDATE `zen_products` SET `products_price`=`products_price`-7.50

Is mathmatically correct if you want a fixed value to be removed.

100.00 - 7.50 = 92.50

Just put the correct formula in now and it worked fine , thanks for the advice and helping me know a little more about the admin side of things.

Please advise if in Version 1.5.1 there is a function in Admin to modify price for ALL Products?

Or technique in this thread is still the best way to do it?
