Default Apache .htaccess Support = OFF

    Zencart Version: 1.50
    PHP Version: 5.3.4
Operating System: Mac Snow Leopard Server

Upon installing I get a yellow warning:
    Apache .htaccess Support = OFF

I assume this needs to be set to on. I've been searching through Apache tutorials and have not figured this one out. I am on my own server. Any help would be appreciated.

Likely not the same issue that discoverytdi had, since chad2012 is building his own webserver, and probably has never looked at firewalls and loopbacks etc.
Instead it's probably that the server has not yet been configured to allow the required directives that the .htaccess files depend upon.

While we don't teach you how to build and configure a webserver here, the following tips are offered:
    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=287

You are STRONGLY encouraged to host your store on a server which is managed by someone whose business is specifically managing servers. Homegrown servers are highly inappropriate for running an e-commerce site. PCI Compliance is important, and if you're not well versed in those topics, you should not be running a self-managed server.

Furthermore, any advice you see here about PCI matters is merely an opinion, and should not be relied upon as "official". Official PCI information should be obtained from the PCI Security Council directly or from one of their authorized Assessors.
