Default my site was hit by bogus visitors

I just checked my who's on line and the shopping cart came up completely full. I think someone, or something, just went through my
listings and put everything in the cart.

    Is there:

    1. Anyway this can be prevented?
    2. Empty a shopping cart?

    Thanks in advance

The shopping cart is only saved if the customer is logged in ...

As to preventing it, well ... you could build in something to only allow so many products to be added to the cart, but then how many is a goober visitor? You don't want to stop a real customer ... and if it is a goober visitor that is not logged in, then the cart is not saved so is there a point?
