If you mailed a Gift Certificates that has not been redeemed yet would need to be manually disabled ...
In phpMyAdmin, go to the table:
coupons
and find the Gift Certificate that you want to disable and set the:
coupon_active
to N ...
If a customer purchased a Gift Certificate that has not been redeemed yet ...
In phpMyAdmin, go to the table:
coupon_gv_queue
and find the Gift Certificate that you want to disable and set the:
release_flag
to Y ...

You could delete it but you would not have a record of it and on the wild off chance that the code was ever regenerated you would not want that to happen ...

oh ok thanks :)
I'm in pspAdmin and do not see a table that says coupon can someone please help me???
Pretty much has to be there - are you sure you're looking in the right database ? (It's coupons, with an s.)
Hi Ajeh, is this also the way to proceed in case the gift certificate has already been redeemed but not yet used to make a purchase?
A customer says that when she tried to redeem her certificate, she got an error message, whereas the admin shows that she indeed has well redeemed her certificate. I'd like to try and cancel that one certificate and email her a new one.
No this is a way to wipe out all records relating to Discount Coupons and Gift Certificates ...
How did the customer get her Gift Certificate that she says she cannot redeem that you see in her balance?
A GV sent from the Admin would show on the Gift Certificate Sent:
A redeemed Gift Certificate would look like:Senders Name Gift Certificate Value Redemption Code Date Sent Date Redeemed
Admin $27.00 1cf7e04995 12/20/2011 14:00:40 Not Redeemed
Clicking on that GV you would see on the right panel:
Senders ID: 0
Amount Sent: $27.00
Date Sent: 12/20/2011 14:00:40
Redemption Code: 1cf7e04995
Email Addr: someone@some_domain.com
Not Redeemed
Senders Name Gift Certificate Value Redemption Code Date Sent Date Redeemed
Admin $27.00 1cf7e04995 12/20/2011 14:00:40 12/20/2011 14:16:08
Click on the Gv and you would see on the right panel:
Senders ID: 0
Amount Sent: $27.00
Date Sent: 12/20/2011 14:00:40
Redemption Code: 1cf7e04995
Email Addr: someone@some_domain.com
Date Redeemed: 12/20/2011 14:16:08
IP Address: 84.139.53.113
Customer Id: 2
In the customer's My Account they would see a box containing:
Gift Certificate Account
You have a balance available in your Gift Certificate account. You may spend it or send it to someone else. To send click the button below.
Your Gift Certificate balance is: $27.00
If they go to the GV FAQ when logged in they would also see:
Gift Certificate Account
You have a balance available in your Gift Certificate account. You may spend it or send it to someone else. To send click the button below.
Your Gift Certificate balance is: $27.00
When they go to checkout, on the checkout_payment page they would see in the Gift Certificate box:
Gift Certificates
To use Gift Certificate funds already in your account, type the amount you wish to apply in the box that says 'Apply Amount'. You will need to choose a payment method, then click the continue button to apply the funds to your shopping cart.
If you are redeeming a new Gift Certificate you should type the number into the box next to Redemption Code. The amount redeemed will be added to your account when you click the continue button.
Redemption Code ___ Apply Amount:
___ Available balance: $27.00
To use some or all of their available balance, enter the Apply Amount up to 27.00 in the box.
Have you looked in the database at the tables that start with:
coupon
to see what has happened?
NOTE: once redeemed, you cannot redeem again, you need to either Apply Amount from the Balance on the checkout_payment page or Send an amount to a Friend.
NOTE: if you are not really familiar with all that the customer is seeing, create an account and test sending a GV to that email from the Admin and see how all of this looks ...
NOTE: also check what happens when you, the customer, buys a Gift Certificate (if you sell them) so you know how that works and how the GV Queue works ...

I sent it to them via the admin and it's been well redeemed as it looks like what you've indicated, i.e.:How did the customer get her Gift Certificate that she says she cannot redeem that you see in her balance?
I'm quite certain the gift certificates work perfectly as other customers have been using them successfully. Just in case, I've also just sent one to myself and redeemed/used it succesfully.Senders Name Gift Certificate Value Redemption Code Date Sent Date Redeemed
Admin $27.00 1cf7e04995 12/20/2011 14:00:40 12/20/2011 14:16:08
Click on the Gv and you would see on the right panel:
Senders ID: 0
Amount Sent: $27.00
Date Sent: 12/20/2011 14:00:40
Redemption Code: 1cf7e04995
Email Addr: someone@some_domain.com
Date Redeemed: 12/20/2011 14:16:08
IP Address: 84.139.53.113
Customer Id: 2
The entries shown in the database under that certificate look also normal.
They didn't give me any feedback as to whether there's any balance in their account. They believe their emails have been hacked but yet confirms that the IP address that has redeemed the certificate (as shown in the admin) is indeed theirs.
I'm not sure what went wrong but am also getting a little suspicious. Is there any way to cancel that one and just sent them a new one?
