On enter site add product to cart

I have a site where I have a store inside a folder /store on my main site (a custom php site I made) I have a button, that links to the store, now the client wants when the button is pushed, for a certain product to be added to the store and the button link to the cart page so they can see this product is added. Is this possible without having sessions on the main homepage? Can you have a product marked as always 1 in the cart, or can you insert one on cart page load?
