Just started seeing this error today. Everything has been working. Nothing has been changed.

Verified with host that everything is correctly set up with libcurl.

    curl-config --feature
    SSL
    IPv6
    libz
    IDN
    NTLM

Follow up. The problem still exists but it appears that the apache version may have been recently updated to 2.2.22.

    Any known issues there???

    Thanks

    Talk to your host.

Zen Cart relies on CURL being compiled into PHP, with SSL support (usually OpenSSL) options selected.
Zen Cart does NOT drop to command-line to run CURL as a shell script. It simply calls the PHP functions such as curl_init(), etc.

If it's saying SSL isn't enabled ... then ... it isn't. Your server's top-level administrator will need to fix the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I have been in touch with server admin. The tricky thing is that it is reporting that ssl is enabled...

    output from curl
    curl-config --feature
    SSL
    IPv6
    libz
    IDN
    NTLM

Which is making things much more difficult...
I will pass on the info. Thx!

Just in case anyone else runs into this issue...

When updating Apache, my Curl has two versions, Curl and CurlSSL. Curl --version and Curl-config --feature both show https/SSL support. Even though SSL is enabled and output will show:
    output from curl
    curl-config --feature
    SSL
    IPv6
    libz
    IDN
    NTLM
Recompile Apache with the CurlSSL as Zencart executes commands from php's curl, PHP itself needed the CurlSSL support.

    Thanks
