Just came across this old thread after banging my head against how to change the order of fields in the product listing. I never realized that these numbers were the sort order. I thought it was just 0=off 1=on. This solved almost all of the problem I'm trying to solve. The only thing that didn't work is the order in which the truncated product description appears.
I set mine like this:
----------
Display Product Image 1
Display Product Manufacturer Name 0
Display Product Model 4
Display Product Name 2
Display Product Price/Add to Cart 5
Display Product Composer 3
Display Product Quantity
Display Product Weight
Display Product Price/Add to Cart Column Width 125
Display Category/Manufacturer Filter (0=off; 1=on) 0
Prev/Next Split Page Navigation (1-top, 2-bottom, 3-both) 2
Display ProductListing Default Sort Order 1
Display Product Add to Cart Button (0=off; 1=on; 2=on with Qty Box per Product) 0
Display Multiple Products Qty Box Status and Set Button Location 1
Display Product Description 80
ProductListing Ascending Sort Order +
ProductListing Descending Sort Order -
Include ProductListing Alpha Sorter Dropdown false
Include ProductListing Sub Categories Image false
Include ProductListing Top Categories Image false
Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating 1
----------
The only setting that seems to concern the product description is "Display Product Description 80" but the 80 refers to the number of characters to show, not the sort order. Is there a way to get the description to have a sort order of 6 so it appears in the listing after Price/Add to Cart. Right now the product listing is shown like this:
1. Image
2. Name
3. Product description (limited to 80 chars)
4. Product composer (this is a custom field I've added many years ago)
5. Product Model
6. Product Price/Add to Cart
Am I just missing the configuration setting for this somehow?
