    Default Discount Coupon Disable for one customer How to?

    Hi All,

    I have a discount coupon defined to give new customers a 5% discount. I send this coupon code in the welcome email. This has worked great for a few years, but today a customer called his order in because he couldn't figure out how to use the coupon.

    So the order was taken over the phone. Now I want to make it so this customer cannot use the online coupon in the future. Can someone give me the knowledge to set this coupon as having been used by this particular customer? He did create his account successfully and likely just chickened out before reaching the checkout step that asks for the discount coupon code. I'm running 1.39h btw.

    If you look via phpMyAdmin at the table:
    coupon_redeem_track

    you will see how a record is recorded for when the Discount Coupon is redeemed by someone ...

    You can fill in the fields:
    coupon_id
    customer_id
    redeem_date
    redeem_ip
    order_id

    by clicking on INSERT ...

    NOTE: The field:
    unique_id

    should be left blank ...

    NOTE: as you do not know the customer's IP Address, the field:
    redeem_ip

    can be blank or fill it in in a manner to indicate to you it was done manually, such as:
    12.345.67.890

    Or, if the customer has made previous orders you could check the table:
    orders

    and see what ip_address was used for previous orders for this customer ...

    Thanks Ajeh, as usual you are fast and thorough with your response. I was able to do exactly as you instructed with great ease. I'm wondering if there is any way to be sure this works? I'm guessing not and it's not that big of a deal either. I'm also assuming that an oder_ID of 0 is OK..

    Create a new customer and put that customer in the table as if they already used it and see if that customer is blocked ...

    I've had this same issue come up as well. I got around it by logging into the customer's account with my master password. I'll then place the order online for the customer and redeem any coupons or points they have. This way, the order is in their online account, they'll receive an order confirmation, and they can take advantage of coupons or points. Any one-time use coupons are associated with the customer's account, and that person won't be able to use them online in the future.
