change the color of text in header

I'm trying to change the color of the text in my header.
So far I inserted the code below in my stylesheet..but it still doesnt work.
could someone help me out on this? thanks very much!

        color: #FFFFFF;
        }
#tagline {
	color:#FFFFFF;
	font-size: 2em;
	text-align : center;
	vertical-align: middle;
	}

Assuming it's actually the tagline you're trying to change, that should work, so we'll need to see the site to advise.
