Products discription disappears

When writing a product description of the letters ąčęėįšųūž text disappears. But elsewhere this development is seen

some of my categories disappeared letters: "ąčęėįšųūž" but some do not. I enclose a photo that you understand my problem

This might have something to do with zencart being set to use something like utf-8 but the database set to use latin1 ?

I don't know the full answer, but I've seen something like this before when upgrading my database. However, usually when I add new products/categories I would not see this behavior.
