Default After install: NOTICE: The website is currently Down For Maintenance to the public

I just downloaded & installed v1.5 to my local host. It seemed to install fine (with some DB problems) but when it was done I get the red line at the top with the message:

"NOTICE: The website is currently Down For Maintenance to the public"

Why do I get this and how do I fix it.

Note: this is just the standard ZenCart code, I haven't added any of the store yet. The only changes I made were to the configure files, as recommended.

Yes, that's normal. The upgrade script puts the store into down-for-maintenance mode in an effort to prevent shopping activity during the upgrade.
You simply need to turn off maintenance mode: Admin->Configuration->Maintenance->first option in the list

Hi, I've got a similar problem with the upgrade... no matter what I do in the admin section - even turn off the maintenance mode - the website is still showing that notice.

    Any idea why?
    thanks a lot

In my case, after upgrading a site to 1.5, I could not get the website maintenance option to work from Admin>Configuration>Website Maintenace. I ended up going into my database under the configuration file and found the confg key of DOWN_FOR_MAINTENACE and edited the value from true to false.

Hopefully, I can figure out the issue with admin panel at some point, but this got the website back up.
