CKEditor problems

Hi All

Trying to install CKEditor on v1.5 and simply cant get it work.
Followed read me file and seem to follow ok until i zip the editor folder and unpack in the public_html folder, but it only seems to unpack one file which was a .cgi file

In admin> store> htmleditor = nothing
and not in the define pages editor either.

Please help

No... you can't install it by uploading and unpacking the zip file.

You need to download the zip file to a LOCAL drive and unpack it on your LOCAL machine.

Then, change the name of its ADMIN folder to the name of your admin folder on the server.

Then FTP the folders to your zencart installation.

PS: REMOVE the unpacked stuff from the server...

That is what i have done, after i had ftp the files, I needed to upload the ckeditor "folder" which i zipped up and put in public_html and then unpacked it.

Er... NO

Read what I said... you must unpack it on your HOME COMPUTER.

After unpacking it, you will see it is made up of TWO FOLDERS:

admin
editors

and a FILE
readme.html

Open your FTP software.

Navigate to your root installation of zencart on the server. You will be in the right place when you see an editors folder in the server's pane.

NOW... on your SERVER.... you will have a DIFFERENT NAME for your admin folder.

Whatever that name is, change the name of the admin folder in CK-Editor directory, to MATCH that of your server's admin name.

Now... your FTP LOCAL PANE will show:

admin_re_named
editors
readme.html

HIGHLIGHT BOTH FOLDERS (not the readme)

CLICK THE "SEND" ARROW to ftp these folders to your server...

YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO OVERWRITE AN EDITORS.PHP FILE IN THE ADMIN... ACCEPT THIS OVERWRITE.

Job Done...

Hi all,

Ok so like many I am having issues with CKeditor. I installed it as per instructions (so I think) I am using Zen V1.5 and the latest version of CKE. I have no problem setting the default HTML editor to EDITOR_CKEDITOR (that is what shows up on mine).

My problem is that when I go to something like "DEFINE PAGES EDITOR FOR : ENGLISH" I am able to choose the ckeditor in the list, but as soon as I do it just automatically chooses the Plain Text editor.

I guess it's not "catching" something, but I really don't know what.

Someone please help

Hi,

I have been having a very frustrating issue with regards to CKeditor and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I actually posted in another area of the forum, but I am not sure if that was the right place

Here is my issue:

I did the whole copy/paste thing from my local onto the host site and it went. I followed the instructions to the letter. (so I think)
I have installed CKeditor (the lastest version) into Zen Cart 1.5.

When I go into the admin panel of zen cart I see the Editor_CKeditor in the dropdown list for the text editor choices. But as soon as I choose it, I can see that my browser is doing something, but then stops and the dropdown choice goes back to "plain text". It's as if it's looking for it but can't find it.

I also set the default HTML editor from "My Store" to Editor_CKeditor as well.


I'm wondering...
My Zen Cart is in the folder called public_html/shop

Do you think it can't find it because it is looking for public_html?, but not the /shop/ part?

I did try the sample that the instructions speak about and I can see the files through my browser when I do that. It's just that through Zen Cart it doesn't activate

When you grab a copy of CK_editor and UNZIP it on your local machine, you will see it comprises TWO FOLDERS:

admin
editors

(And I think a README file).

Loading it to zencart is quite straight forward.

1. The folder in CK_Editor called "admin" will need to be RE-NAMED to the same name that you called YOUR admin folder on the server -whatever that name is. For the purposes of this post, I assume you called it "your_admin_folder", but you could have called it "barack_obama" or even "donald_duck".

2. You need to NAVIGATE - on your server - to the area where you have loaded zencart. IF this is in a sub-folder called "store", or "shop", then you need to go into that sub-folder. You will know you are at the right LEVEL when you see a folder called "editors" on the server, as well as a folder called "your_admin_folder"

3. Now that you are at the right LEVEL, and you have renamed the ck_editor admin folder to your_admin_folder, you simply click the FTP arrow that ports the LOCAL stuff to the SERVER.

You may be promted to overwrite a file in the admin area, and that is quite safe to do.

I downloaded CKEditor latest version 3.6.6 and when I unpack it on my computer there is not 2 folders, I get this

I have not tried to install via their instructions by loading the zip and unpacking on site. Am wondering if the new version is different?
