Hi.
I don't really want to give my customers the option of creating an account. I thought there was a way of turning this off but I can't see it.
Can anyone help please?
Many thanks in anticipation.

There are mods for that in the Free Software Add Ons (link, top-left on any forum page). Have a look at Fast and Easy Checkout, and at COWOA.

Many thanks for your reply Rob. I have Fast and Easy Checkout installed and have turned off (ie set to False) the following
Fast and Easy Checkout
Easy Sign-Up and Login
Checkout without account
Checkout without account only is set to true.
That still gives me the option to sign in to an existing account or create a new one.
With "Checkout without account only" set to false as well, I get a "Whoops your session has expired" message.
What am I missing?
I don't know the details of those mods. I used to follow the COWOA support thread but it was getting too convoluted for me. It all boils down to fooling people anyway. Whether they know it or not they're creating an account, it's just an account that they can't reuse, in a sense. So I didn't follow up and install it on my own sites. I think it's better practice to carefully refine the checkout process in both code and CSS, while keeping the account obvious. But different sites may have different needs, of course.
Probably best to take your question to the FEC or the COWOA support thread. There be experts there.
Rob
Many thanks rob. I've taken your advice.
