Store Locator Security Help

I setup a Google API store locator, and it works fine. A short summary:

1. Setup a Table that has the geo data for my dealers
2. Create 3 PHP pages...
a. config to access table (user, userpw, database name)
b. xml generator to feed stores to Google API
c. Google API map generator

I read how to setup a new php page and I did that for the Google API map generator.. which in turn calls the xml, which calls the config.. These last two are never seen by the user.

How do I get the first two PHP files out of my main html directory and bury it into a more secure directory? I would love to have them in the same directory as the Google API map generator which is:

tpl_store_locator_default.php in my templates/my_template/templates

I am not fluent in all the php security that zen cart has, and I learn as I go. After I get this security part right, I'll make a package with docs to have others put this on their site.

Why not use the ez-pages?

can an EZ page access a table and load XML data from another PHP file? Or can an EZ page call another EZ page that can access the database?
