can I widen my index page layout?

ebay is at the bottom of my list

Ebay is not full width on my 23 inch monitor....I have 3 1/2 inches whitespace on either side.....

Well, Its not a full width site...here is their main wrapper div

but thats better than 800. I did notice that for the 1st second at ebay I'm at around 800 then it changes to full screen. That gave me the impression that they're using a script similar to the one above to adjust the width. Now I get a full screen with a 22" at 1200 so I assume if they added 1400 to their script you would get a full screen with your monitor? I guess the only way to see how it works is to install the script and see how it works.
I have 1 question (Now anyways lol) in the above instructions it says 1st install this code in the html file. My html file in zencart is blank other than the tags so is the html file actually looked at in zen? should I start by placing that 1st line of code in that file? Oh damn I already have a 2nd question, should I remove the insert width:750px from the wrapper code? or would the above code overwrite it.
I'm sorry if I ask to many questions but I'm shooting for a very plain but very functional store.

If your set on 100% width site (personally I think they are ugly) then all you need to do is go into the style sheet and set the mainWrapper to 100% and the site will fill the browser from side to side on every monitor...though I would also set a min-width so it will only collapse so far on those peoples computers where they only open the browser to 50% of the screen width.....if you going to be 100% width you better have either a lot of content to fill the space or huge pictures to fill up the space...whitespace has its purposes but too much of it also looks crappy

oh I just noticed that the ebay index px is not full screen it just has a white outer wrapper. I only get full screen when I enter a category and then the pixels change to 1200
