We don't really care much about GoDaddy on this forum. In general most things work badly, or not at all. GoDaddy is not really suitable for hosting sophisticated sites. OK for showcasing a list of your holiday snapshots on a flat HTML page... but for anything more sophistcated you should go to a proper host.

Had a quick look at this "4gh" stuff...
My take on it... "AVOID IT". When a web host says you can't host your email on the same account/server as your website, then you KNOW they are not interested in proper configurations for professional web hosting.
It's rubbish - certainly for anyone wishing to run a proper website.

Is your site Upgraded to the current version 1.5.4 Yet?

For a tiny fraction more money, you can buy quality hosting from a company that configures servers properly, and who understands eCommerce.
These "cheap" hosts are no good for sophisticated sites. They end up costing much more in terms of down-time, non-functionality, slow site speed (a result of over-stuffed servers).
GoDaddy, 1&1, Fasthosts and all others like them are not suitable for sophisticated web platforms.
This "4GH" sounds just like the sort of hosting you should avoid like the plague. GoDaddy was bad enough hosting sites on ONE server... now they intend FRAGMENTING everything! That is a recipe for disaster in my book.
AVOID...
I think I'll go with host gator then.
Hey fairestcape,
We are always working to improve our services. In fact, 4GH is very different from our Legacy Shared hosting product.
4GH stands for 4th Generation Hosting. It is a new type of shared hosting environment that takes the stress and load off of the single server, and disperses it in the "cloud" or "grid."
Each cluster of servers is behind a load balancer to evenly spread the traffic between the servers. This allows for more concurrent connections, better CPU usage and overall improved performance.

The technology may be great... the fact that in this case it's being offered by GoDaddy is the concern...
Let's face it... your company has an awful track-record in the shared hosting industry, for complex platforms.
GD is fine for simple sites, and your market is largely people whose needs are modest. You pack as many sites into a server as possible, keeping revenues high and costs low...
I have no truck with that - if your company's principal objective is to make money, that's fine. That's what the spirit of the Free Market is all about.
But this (and many other user forums of other complex platforms) are filled with tearful users of your hosting systems, posting pleas for help, when in reality it is not the software platform that is at fault, but your hosting.
The developers of Zencart have held very high-level discussions with your organisation in the past, pleading for better and more sophisticated (and APPROPRIATE) server configurations... All have been either ignored or declined. And the reason commonly given is that the requests do not fit into GoDaddy's business model.
People are of course, welcome to choose their hosting provider as freely as they are their doctor.
One's choice however, starts to matter when (for example) one suspects the onset of a brain tumor and is committed to the diagnosis and treatment of a Sangoma rather than a specialist neuro-surgeon.
See Wikipedia for "Sangoma"...
