Default Banners expiring later than the "expires on" date

I am setting up a sale with salemaker and use banners to advertise it on the site home page.

The sale expires exactly on the "expires on" date set in the admin. However, the banners expire a day later than the "expires on" date set in the admin.

As these 2 don't coincide, I have been setting the banner to expire a day earlier so far but was wondering if this was normal behavior?

    Please advise...

Banners expire at the end of the day on the date that they are set for ...

So if you set it for 04/12/2012 and today is 04/12/2012, then it will expire at the end of the day tonight ...

Where is the geo-location of your host server?

If you are in CHINA and your server is in ENGLAND, the server's time will be several hours EARLIER than the time in CHINA.

    Thanks Ajeh for confirming.

Hi schoolboy, that's what I initially thought - we're located in the Asian zone and the server is in the US. However, both sales and banners should then expires at the same time, no? ... that's strange.

This time I've created a discount coupon and set a banner ... and again have the same issue. The discount coupon expired exactly at the end of the day it was set for, but the banner almost a day later.

I'm looking at the database and found the following data:

    Coupon:
    coupon_expire_date
    2012-09-11 00:00:00

    Banner:
    expires_date
    2012-09-11 23:59:59

    Is this host-related?

Banners expire at the end of the day that you have set the expiration for ...

    Banner:
    expires_date
    2012-09-11 23:59:59

means that at the stroke of midnight of 9-12-2012, which is after 2012-09-11 23:59:59, the banner will expire ...

Thanks Ajeh for your quick reply.

The issue is that the banner always expires one day later.

When I set the banner to expire at the end of 2012-09-11, it expires at the end of 2012-09-12. The data in the database shows:

    expires_date
    2012-09-11 23:59:59

Whereas when I set the coupon to expire at the end of 2012-09-11, it well expires at the end of 2012-09-11. The data in the database shows:

    coupon_expire_date
    2012-09-11 00:00:00

Is it normal to have these 2, both set to expire at the end of 2012-09-11, expire at different times? I am not much familiar with databases and am not sure why one shows 23:59:59 and the other 00:00:00 ...

    Please advise.

Look at the dates and times ...

The Banner date is 2012-09-11 23:59:59

9-11-2012 at 23:59:59 is the second before midnight ... meaning it expires at 9-12-2012 00:00:00 which is a second later ...

The Coupon date is 2012-09-11 00:00:00 that is midnight on 9-11-2012 ... meaning the second after 9-10-2012 11:59:59 ... so one is at exactly midnight on the date you set and the other is at midnight *after* the date you set ...

If you want the Banner to end at the end of 9-11-2012 (so it does not work on 9-12-2012) you set it to 9-11-2012 and it will end at the stroke of midnight on 9-12-2012, the start of the day for 9-12-2012 ... and it will work on 9-11-2012 but not on 9-12-2012 ...
