Default Using shipping module for delivery charge instead

    Hi all,

I've been looking around here for an answer and apparently my particular situation may not have been posted.

Here it is: I have a client who wants to charge a delivery fee as a percentage of the price for each product item. So, if an item is $20 and the delivery charge is 10%, then the total amount would be $22.00. Is this possible and where would I find it?

Thanks for any and all feedback, suggestions.

You could use Table Rate table and set to Price and use the rate for:
    10000:10.00%

    Hi Ajeh,

Thanks for the suggestion. My question before checking this out is, since you suggested to set to price, would this apply to the total price of the sale or for each item in the cart? I also need to check back with my client on this as well.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. One more question. If the client decides that she wants to charge a delivery fee per item sold, what would be the best module to use for that? I am assuming that she will be using the same amount for each item a customer purchases.

    Hi,

I have one more question regarding the shipping module being used as a delivery charge. Is it possible to assign different "delivery charges" per category. Let's say products in category 2 is being charged $5 per item being delivered and category 4 is being charged $10 per item being delivered. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks for any and all help.

You could use the shipping module Per Unit perweightunit where you set the shipping charge for the Product with the Product Weight ...

Now, when you buy 2 Products that are Product Weight 1.0, you get a $2.00 charge ... if the Product Weight is 5.00 you get a $5.00 charger per quantity of that Product ...

NOTE: to use this, go to the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and set the Maximum Weight to 5000 and the Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

I think I get it. Basically what you are saying is that for instance I can make each products in a certain category a specific weight and products in another category a different weight and by using the perweightunit that will give me not only a delivery charge per item but also per category, am I correct?
