Default Help with product download problem

I am using version 1.5.0, and I installed the version. It is an upgrade from 1.3.0. Upload was done by a new install and the data reloaded. All seems operational with one exception and I am panicking about the one problem. 99% is operational.

    Addons installed are:
    - newsletter subscribe 2.2.2 (if someone needs to know how to
adjust the newsletter to work on 1.5.0, I can explain)
    - ultimate seo urls 2.150
    - sales report

The site is cosmetically different from the default site because of the template changes.

The site (www.regencyreads.com) allows download of ebooks, some free, some at nominal charge.

For some reason, 99% of the books can be downloaded in various formats (epub, pdf, ...). One particular set of books, with extension .doc can not be downloaded when clicking the download link on the account page. Clicking on the download link results in my branching to a 404 page.

I don't expect you to suggest what my problem is, though it would be nice if you do know. But, I would appreciate if anyone could suggest what php file I should examine to determine how the link (http://www.regencyreads.com/bookstor...0&id=23228) is being processed to generate the real download link when the link is clicked.

I am happy to track through the php code to figure out what is happening. I am hoping for a jump start by getting to the processing page.

My database looks consistent and coherent. The accounts page can find the file, and calculate the size ... or the information would not be on the accounts page. I can not imagine why the link is being translated incorrectly and failing to allow the retrieval when the download link is pressed.

In advance, thanks for any help you can provide.

While I'd be the last person who would ever want to download files in .doc format, if that's what you intend to do, you'll need to add doc to the list of allowed filetypes in as described here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184297

Thank you VERY much for your timely reply.

I would have never thought to look at the option to set the htaccess, I do not believe this was an option used in the version 1.3.0 site I replaced. I love the extra protection.

I agree, use of doc files for distribution of a book seems a poor choice. The book store offers many formats, including epub, pdf, lit, kml, pdb, prc, rb and others. However, it appears many of the visitors wanted doc files, so, the site owner offers this format for some of the books.

After looking at the htaccess file, I see that I would have had problems with other format files, and it was simply a ticking time bomb until I realized the downloads would not work. Most people request the epub, and pdf formats, and I had noticed that they were working. I had not yet checked the other formats, as i had found the the doc file was not working.

Sincerely, thank you for the timely reply.
