Default Login animated gif showing all the time at login page - Black Admin Theme

    Name: login_circle.jpg
Views: 2357
Size: 17.8 KB

Admin login works ok, but the login circle is showing all the time.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Cheers,

The animated logo is performed via a little bit of javascript in the /renamed_admin/login.php file.

It is triggered by the 'onsubmit' event (when you press the login button)

I can't think of a single reason why yours is showing before the onsubmit event occurs.

Is it specific to any particular web browser?

    Cheers

    Hi Rod,

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
I am using latest firefox, but also tried chrome and ie9 - all the same.

Should I try uploading the login.php file and/or the javascript file (whatever it is called?)?

    Cheers,

    Mark

The javascript is actually a part of the login.php file.

Yes, it could be worthwhile re-uploading it. Not sure if it'll make a difference or not though, but if the animated gif annoys you then there's nothing to lose.

OTOH, you are probably going to be the only person to ever see this, and then it's only for the second or two that it takes you to log in, so it's not what I'd consider to be a serious issue. I'd be more interested as to what has gone amiss to cause the problem more than actually trying to fix it. (However, finding the cause will lead to a fix anyway).

Perhaps doing a DIFF (comparing the differences, if any) between the copy in the distribution package and the copy on your server may shed light on the cause?

    Cheers

I used a different pc to access the admin login page.
The animated gif was not showing.
I logged in then out and now the animated gif is showing on the second pc.
Could this mean it is something to do with a cookie?

Thinking back, this problem only seems to have occured since installing Easy Populate v4.0 for zc1.50
It did not overwrite any core files and did not overwrite the login.php file.
I deleted all the EP4 files but this did not make any difference to the login issue, so I installed it again.

I replaced the admin login.php file but it didn't make any difference.
I know it's not a big deal, just annoying to see and to know there must be something wrong.

I guess this will remain a mystery.

Thanks for your time and help.

    All the best,

    Mark

I'd say unlikely, expecially since the logoff.php explicitely destroys the current session data.

Especially since the reasearch I've just been doing in relation to how this could possibly happen has led me to a number of threads where people actually *want* this behavour, and it appears they need to jump through hoops to make it happen.... and here's you, making it happen with no apparent cause. Got me beat.

FWIW, like DrByte, I've not been able to duplicate the behaviour either.

Methinks you are on your own, but if you do happen to stumble across an explanation, please let us know. I don't like unsolved computer mysterys, but I also know when I've spent more time than I should have trying to solve them :)

    Cheers
