    Default Customer messaging feature?

    Is there a way to allow customers to send messages back to the store admin via their Zen Cart customer profile? For instance, they could send a message back to us if they had questions about their order, and we could go in and answer those questions, similar to how the order comments feature works.

    You could add some text to the customer account page telling them that they can use the Contact Us form to ask questions, and reminding them to mention the order number or whatever info is relevant. There is a "contact us - add subject" mod in Plugins that will require them to say something for the e-mail subject line. Replying to a contact e-mail will go directly back to them, unlike replying to an order confirmation e-mail.

    You could reply to a contact question with an order update, adding a comment and making sure the "e-mail customer" box is checked. That way your response (and their question if you copy/paste it in) will stay with the order records.
    Not exactly what you asked for, but it would do the job without the significant custom coding.

    Those both sound like good methods. I figured a custom messaging system would be just that... very "custom". Thanks, gjh!

    It builds order question functionality into the Account History page. All comments back and forth then appear in the account history both to the customer and admin. Emails from customers automatically include order #,etc.

    Quite helpful since most customers think they are your only customer and fail to include any order details while at the same time deciding to use a different name/email from the one they ordered under

    One note though: I recently switched to using CSS Buttons and that broke the button it adds,so......

    Very interesting. Good find!

    It looks like it is fairly old though... have you tried it on 1.3.9h or 1.5?

    I run it on 1.3.9h with no issues (prior to switching to CSS Buttons.)
