    Default Renamed Admin Folder Not Found

    I've just installed ZC 1.5 on a new host and everything seems to have gone well except that since renaming the admin folder I am unable to access admin, the page displaying:

    'Not Found
    The requested URL /****/ was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.'

    Now I must admit to being fairly new to all this and thought I'd learn by trial-and-error, but I cannot seem to get past this. Any help would be much appreciated.

    If the browser can't find the page, it most likely doesn't exist. Are you sure you're entering the right folder name and path ?

    Opps, I've just realised that I should have posted this under 'Installing on a Linux/Unix Server' (my server is Unix). Any chance of it being moved?

    I've doubled checked: the name and path seem to be correct, thanks.

    This is weird. If I type www.myshopname.co.uk/store/renamedadmin/ into my browser I am delivered to the admin (and have just logged in and changed my temp. password). I thought the path was www.myshopname.co.uk/renamedadmin/? Have I done something wrong here or is this okay?

    I'm going to guess you used an auto-installer offered by your host to install Zencart, which installed it in a subdirectory named /store. You can move everything to the root (top) directory if you want and edit both configure.php files to remove the /store part.

    Is that necessary? Thanks for your help.

    I would. I think it makes sense to have your site in the root of the domain. Otherwise you'll need some sort of page in the root directing visitors to the /store directory - one more click before they can start buying stuff.

    I have exactly the same issue. When I rename the folder back to zc_admin I am able to log in with no problem. I never modified any files since the instructions said it was not required. I am using a clean install of 1.5. FINALLY was able to make it work by changing admin/includes/configure.php in three locations, replacing admin with my new directory name.

    Change this section:

    define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

    And this section:

    define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/mystore.com/www/public/admin/');
    define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/mystore.com/www/public/');

    I hope this doesn't cause other problems down the road.
