Suddenly Order Numbers not being generated

Hi

I've just taken on a web design client using Zen Cart

Everything was working fine until May 2nd when the system stopped storing details of any orders although payments were processed succesfully

I did some debugging on it and it seems that no order number is being generated and passed to either payment method (Paypal and Sagepay)

However, if I set up pay by cheque/manual as an order payment type then the number is generated and the order is saved fine.

It's a strange one as all working fine and there has been no server changes

Any ideas?

Zen 1.39 f PHP 5.3.10

are you absolutely sure no files have been tampered with? Like have you gone and looked at the date modified of important files via your ftp client?

It could be that because 1.39 is an old version you might have been hacked. You could always send a wee email to your host and and them to investigate if you're not sure what you're doing yourself :)

I run my own servers and took them on as a hosting/design client in Feb

I've compared the files to a backup I took a couple of weeks ago when it was working fine and I can't spot any date differences on the system files.

I guess easiest option will be to try and get them to upgrade to the newest version - is it 1.5 ? and see if that cures the problem. Very strange though. Last saved order was 2nd May and since then, they've had about 15 paypal transaction confirmations but no orders

At what point does Zen write the order data to the database normally?
