    Default Menu shows one category's children on homepage

    Something small I've been trying to figure out, but finding difficult because I'm new to ZenCart and its lingo (well versed in the web dev world though).

    I have two categories: "Personal" and "Commercial", which have different category layouts under them. Since most of our customers are not corporations, I'd like the homepage to have "Personal" already open, with the subcategories showing. If the user clicks "Commercial", the "Personal" Section collapses, and "Commercial" opens.

    Currently, it just shows "Personal" and "Commercial", and they open up if clicked. How do I get my eStore to start with "Personal" open?

    Go to the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

    Set the Category you want to see for:
    Main Page - Opens with Category
    0= Top Level Categories
    Or enter the Category ID#
    Note: Sub Categories can also be used Example: 3_10
    and turn on the setting for:
    Categories - Always Show on Main Page
    Always Show Categories on Main Page
    0= off
    1= on
    Default category can be set to Top Level or a Specific Top Level

    Thanks for responding so quickly! I checked the Layout Settings, and they were already set to the correct numbers. Is it possible a template override is ignoring this? I inherited this project from another web developer, so I can't be certain of what changes were made.

    Most likely ... can you test by switching to the Classic Template and see what happens?

    Great idea - switched to classic, and it still didn't expand.

    What files affect the menu layout? I can check to see if an add-on overwrote the original.

    <Removed the link>

    (This is the development site - there is a live version as well, but I am not making changes there)

    I checked the Layout Settings, and they were already set to the correct numbers.
    What exactly were those settings? What is the category id for your Personal category?

    Oh! Got it!

    I'm so very sorry, I misread, and confused the two settings "Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories" and "Always Show on Main Page".

    *Smacks forehead* There's my moment of the day. Gonna have to grab some more coffee, it seems.

    Thanks again!

    You have the setting for:
    Main Page - Opens with Category
    set to 69?

    And you have the setting for:
    Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories
    set to 1?
