Your Opinions of Algozone Templates?

I need a new template and have been looking at one from Algozone. I see where some people posted to not purchase from them. What are the pros and cons of their templates.

just my opinion -

All the fancy slideshows and javascript enabled features is great!

Statistics say 2% of all users have it disabled

So 2 out of 10 of your customers wont see the slideshow and will get a scrollbar across their browser window

Not everyone surfs the web with JavaScript enabled. This could be a user browsing through Lynx text only browser, a mobile user with a browser that does not have JavaScript enabled by default, or a corporate network that strips out JavaScript files from web sites.

I noticed this because I test all my sites modifications with it disabled

A WELL DESIGNED TEMPLATE will have a nice non-javascript layout as well as the javascript enabled version.

Good information!

I'm not sure I'm going to use the slideshow, it's mostly the background and transparent overlay i'm after. (Hey, if anyone here can do this, let me know). I've also considered one of their mobile templates but not sure on that yet. (still hoping that someone here will create a free mobile template soon).

its actually a pretty basic template

the filter sideboxes could be achieved using the dynamic filter add-on

the optional views for the product listing pages are easily achieved - I actually just put something like that together recently - see it here

I am sure anyone would be willing to help you alter that template or build you one - would be best to post in the commercial help wanted section

Agreed and the 2% listed 'This could be a user browsing through Lynx text only browser, a mobile user with a browser that does not have JavaScript enabled by default, or a corporate network that strips out JavaScript files from web sites.' are either a partially sighted person, someone with a old phone, or someone at work - so you can expect a very low conversion rate of that 2% anyway.

Have you looked at the free Zen Cart templates to see if any are close to the look you want to achieve?
