I am having this same problem! The only template that shows up to edit is the default. When I install a new one, I can preview the template with the Preview button but it doesn't show up under the Template Selection. This is on a fresh install of 1.50.
The template has to show, if all of the template files are there and you uploaded correctly. I'm not at my own computer but templates should come with a "version" file, which is the file (insofar as I understand it) shows up in the admin/template selection.
What template is it? And a link or non-linked address to your site always helps.

The template problem relates to any template that I am installing. If you want to see the site, just do a new install of 1.5 and you will see what I have. I have attached a view of what I see in Admin where you can see the templates I have installed (following the template instructions included with the templates).
Thanks for any help you can provide.
I have several mostly demo/testing 1.5 sites most with several templates and they all work.
Your pic shows that there may be two other templates there besides the classic? Do you know how to activate a template? You click "edit" and then choose the template. You then go to Layout Boxes Controller and set the database for the new template.
Did you do all of that?
BTW, before activating your new template it would be a good time to do a database backup, just in case. We use DrByte's database backup plugin, as it is a quick and easy to backup...and restore...from the zencart admin.
