Default Help with Google Website Optimizer

    Hi all

I'm really interested in using google's website optimizer and I thought I'd figured it out.

I was testing the colour of the add to cart buttons and I know how to enclose the particular part of the code to create the variates but I think I have a problem adding the code to the header files.

I copied the tracking code and conversion code to my header right after the <head> as advised but because this code show on all pages it give me this message:

"We've detected more than one occurrence of a given section name. This usually means that you have copied the script above without changing the section name. Please go back to your page and make each section name unique."

I've only got one section of the script on the product info display template and when I try to run this experiment it gives me 100% conversions so the data is incorrect.

Any one got any tips on how to use googles site optimizer with zencart?

    cheers

    Kerrie

    That made me laugh :)

I've given up with google optimizer and I'm trialing optimizely, it seems easily to implement and easier to test the things that I want.

What are you trying to "optimize" ?

Zencart is inherently very efficient, and if you keep your "bespoke" stuff efficient too, the site will be quite well "optimized". (BESPOKE stuff includes images, video files, flash, jquery and js scripts, css...)

If you tinker too much with the core code, you risk breaking things, and unless there is a compelling reason for you to add these (mostly nonsensical) "services", you should just let zencart work on its own.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not trying to optimise for the search engines but for user experience so I want to test the effects of different headlines or add to cart buttons for example.
