Hi, I'm using ZenCart,i'm not a savvy. Someone else install it and didn't install it through fantastico, and I need to update it, I would like to know if I can install the new version using fantastico and merge my backup with the new version?

Do NOT use any automatic installer, such as Fantastico, to do an update.

It sounds like you don't feel confident enough to do an update yourself. But you can certainly download the latest version of Zen Cart and read the docs to see what's involved. You may surprise yourself and do it.

What version of ZC do you run now?

I'm using v1.3.9h.
You totally right, I do not feel confident doing the update on my own, I've never done one before. and I'm afraid of not doing well.

I was hoping you were going to say that. Good news! v1.3.9h is secure and works just fine. There is really no need to upgrade -- unless your payment processor is demanding that you adhere to strict PCI compliance protocols. But until they do, you're fine using v1.3.9h.

I thought you needed to update it, because I am using the UPS shipping only, and is not doing the calculations right, if I put in the shopping cart any product that weighs only 1lb is charged as to 4lbs.

I don't much about UPS shipping setup, or whether you need to upgrade ZC because of it. You should ask again in the part of the forum for setting up shipping. The experts will answer there.

Check your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... most likely the problem is the Tare Rates, try using 0:0 ...
