Implementing WePay to work behind the scenes like PayPal

I want to replace our current CC processor (PayPal) with WePay.

So far, my webmaster says that a special plugin must be created in order to do this which will cost me about $800 and 4 weeks of programming, implementation, etc.

Is there ANY way to do what I want, now..... without this added expense and time frame to do implement? WePay have been VERY responsive to our inquiries, but the process of moving this along is taking far longer than I expected.

It appears that WePay doesn't have specific modules built for existing shopping cart software. What was their resopnse when you asked them about Zencart ? To be honest, $800 doesn't sound like a bad price for writing one.
