    Default Admin files

    Hi All,

I just had my site upgraded and i am a little confused as it has two admin folders. One is the one that had its name amended when the site was initially set up eg shopadmin the other is just admin. Not all the files are in the shopadmin folder but it is the folder that has the access to the admin panel. Do I transfer the files from the admin folder into shopadmin and will there be any issues if I do this?

It sounds like whoever upgraded your site just copied the files from the latest version to your then-current one. Not necessarily the hot setup.

I would check the version info in Admin - Tools and see exactly what version you're using.

If your configure.php file points to the renamed admin, and your admin access works, I would just delete the folder named 'admin'.

Personally, I would check the real Admin directory and ensure that all of the files are upgraded to v1.5 ... nothing is worse than a mixed set of files ...

If you paid someone to do the upgrade, then you should be asking *them* these questions.

I think I accidently added the second admin folder a few months back when I attempted to do the upgrade and made a mess of it, but I will check both folders to make sure that the right version is in the right folder before I delete the the folder.

Thank you everyone for your assistance.

You can save yourself a lot of work/checking by simply renaming the probable superflious folder to something like "admin_unused" (rather than deleting it). If there is/was anything in that folder that was still being used the store will invariably produce error messages (or blank pages), in which case it's a simple matter of renaming it back until you sort out the problems.

If things work fine after the rename then you'll know it is safe to delete the folder, BUT, there will be no rush to do so.. Just leave it hanging around for a few days or so until you are certain that nothing got broken with the renaming.

In contrast, if you 'check and delete' and THEN find a problem you'll have already 'burned your bridges' and will have no easy means to revert back and check to see what you missed.

    Cheers
    Rod
