Default Newsletter is there a way to slow down sending

    Hi

I have only sent about three newsletters in I don't know how many years.. the last one I tried was a couple of months ago and my service provider locked me out as they saw it as spam. they have agreed to let me send 100 per hour but I have just over 3000 subscribers, is there a way to slow down the sending rate?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind Regards

The search term would be "throttling".
I recall seeing some addons floating around that might lend themselves to that.
Or you could simply export your subscriber list to a CSV file (using the Email Address Exporter addon) and use that list to import into an actual newsletter mailing service like MailChimp or Constant Contact who would take care of all the sending for you, removing the need for throttling in your store.

    Thanks DrByte

I would prefer the throttling option if feasable, I have had a look at Mailchimp and constant contact and it looks a bit expensive for an every now and then mailshot.

we use an opensource mailer called POMMO, and while it does not seem to have much support from its dev these days, it is quite reliable and efficient.

You may need to get the github version as there are parts of the original version that are not compatible with php5

We like it because it has just the throttling you need.

Idea or Suggestion Re: Newsletter is there a way to slow down sending

The number of emails allowed to be sent per day (old host was 2000, new is 1000) seems to be becoming a 'norm' for hosting companies in an attempt to stop spammers. Wouldn't it be possible to add this into ZenCart under the Newsletter option to be able to select the number per day allowed and either continue with possibly a 25 hour break, or manually go in and send the next amount allowed? It seems to be a valid option for the package since this is becoming the 'norm' making ZenCart an even easier and more user friendly for everyone since sending email newsletters and reminders is an incredible marketing tool that has been proven to generate sales. Just a thought, will stop now as beginning to ramble......
